Disc Production Source Identification Centre (DPSIC) of the Ministry of Public Security of PRC was founded in December 1997 upon the approval of State Organization Commission and started its work on February 1999 and has being authorized the right of identifying disc production souring inspection, subscribing judicial certificate and administration of disc production souring by five ministries combination, which are the Supreme Court of PRC, Supreme People’s Procuratorate of PRC, the Ministry of Public Security of PRC, Ministry of Justice of PRC, the General Administration of Press and Publication of PRC.

The DPSIC has its own identification technology and equipments, which have approved by national experts of government and universities, to corroborate original disc production sourcing in accordance with inspection of the material evidence, identic-cognizance and comparison of trace. The DPSIC began subscribing judicial inspection certificate of disc production souring identification on the latter half of 2000.

The DPSIC can also verdicts that whether there is any same original sound sourcing in comparison sound character, sound spectrogram, and sound ration of suspected music with original music through criminal analysis technology and sound spectrum apparatus. The DPSIC subscribed formal judicial inspection certificate of sound spectrogram on May 2003.

The DPSIC has being appointed as base of etching Die Source Identification Code (SID code) by the General Administration of Press and Publication of PRC and supplying service of etching SID codes for domestic discs read only replication manufacturers and in charging of collecting disc samples, die characters all over the country. The DPSIC has established data base of disc samples for all discs read only replication manufacturers within PRC. About 1300 SID codes have being etched since begining time on Dec. 2000 till now.

The DPSIC has accepted more than 400 application of identification and subscribed about 2000 inspection certificates till now. Inspection certification and the conclusion of the DPSIC has became important clue or key evidence, and provided great help for intellectual property protection and retrieved much economic loss for the obligee. The DPSIC has been became one of important forces for intellectual property protection and has been striking a heavy blow at the tort of pirate within our nation.

The DPSIC will research and develop new identification methods and technology to oppose piracy, and enhance rate of identification to take the initiative for protection of intellectual property unremittingly.
